Sofiia Matviienko hails from the idyllic town of Pereshchepino in central Ukraine, where her musical odyssey commenced at the tender age of 5. Initially driven by the need to address speech difficulties, she swiftly uncovered an abiding passion for the art form, setting her on an extraordinary path.

At 9, Sofiia transitioned to the classical flute and relocated to Poltava to pursue her musical education at a prestigious music school. Her unwavering commitment and diligence earned her honors upon graduating from the Poltava Academy of Arts. Yet, her thirst for knowledge and skills transcended conventional avenues, with a significant portion of her expertise cultivated through the vast resources of the internet, YouTube masterclasses, and remote instruction from eminent musicians.

Sofiia‘s insatiable appetite for musical excellence led her to partake in international flute competitions and immersive summer programs, enriching her musical knowledge and forging connections with outstanding musicians worldwide. Her distinguished accomplishments include victories in prestigious competitions and noteworthy appearances at international festivals in countries like Argentina, Germany, Italy, Bosnia, the UK, and more. In 2016, she achieved a significant milestone by recording her debut CD.

Beyond her musical pursuits, Sofiia actively participates in philanthropic endeavors, making a meaningful impact in both the UK and Ukraine. In 2017, her exceptional talents earned her a coveted full scholarship to Purcell School for Young Musicians in the UK, culminating in an honors graduation in 2020. Subsequently, she embarked on a transformative journey at the Royal Academy of Music, under the esteemed tutelage of legendary flutist William Bennett, courtesy of a generous ABRSM award scholarship. Presently, she delves into the intricate realm of baroque music, guided by the expertise of Samuel Colens.

Throughout her remarkable journey, Sofiia has received invaluable support from esteemed entities such as the LefreQue product, Rotary Club Dusseldorf-Schlostrum, Yamaha Scholarship Program, VERE MUSIC FUND, and the Hattori Foundation. Sofiia Matviienko’s musical voyage remains an enduring source of inspiration, captivating audiences, and leaving an indelible mark on the world of music.
